First, check that both your Wifi and Personal Hotspot are turned on in your device. If they are turned on, please note that sharing your Personal Hotspot will work best in medium or low-density Wi-Fi. The reason for this is that the radio hardware in your phone’s Wi-Fi has weaker transmission strengths than fixed hotspots and even larger devices such as laptops. Thus, your phone’s Wi-Fi signal tends to be “overpowered” by the other Wi-Fi signals in the area. In many cases, sharing your Personal Hotspot in dense Wi-Fi locations will work, but not always.
If you are trying to share your Personal Hotspot in an area that has good LTE coverage but very little or no Wi-Fi, please send us a log or give us a call. We will help you troubleshoot.
